“Behind The Image”
This book, “Behind The Image” is my second photography book, focusing on eating utensils. It is a collection of photographs under four themes: Placements, Remember, Service and Cradled. The subjects in each theme are forks, knifes and spoons. They are found in any western restaurant and on any western dining room table.
There is nothing unusual about them. The forks are forks. The spoons are spoons. They may vary slightly in their shapes, because of the different designers, manufacturers, and their usage, but in all, they are recognized straight away for what they are: forks, knifes and spoons.
Even though they are just utensils for eating and serving meals, what is intended is not their functions, but rather that which is behind their array; the hidden meanings. These subjects and their arrangements are symbolic of the different states of the human condition, and I position them to reflect those states.
I am pleased with the book, and I hope you will be too. The layout, images, text and format are all mine. I thank Allah for His Help in its creation. So, if you find mistakes, there is no one to blame but me, Mujahid. I did my very best. Still, there is no perfect but The Lord of the Worlds, The Creator.
The book is available for sale. The price is $30.00. I was not a large run, so if you want a copy, I ask that you contact me directly; I am not selling it on my website. mujahid@elements-of-still.com, or call me at 215-285-1142. Also, if you are in Philadelphia or near and around the city, I would be willing to bring you a copy at no extra cost.
